“Episode 95  – Making Sense of Agile, Shu Ha Ri, and Disciplined Agile” on Manage This!, December 17, 2019.

We’re talking Agile! How has it changed the way we work? What is the value of Agile?

Our guest, Velociteach instructor Alan Zucker addresses some difficulties an organization faces when transitioning from traditional methods to Agile. Alan explains project management’s adaptation of the Japanese Martial Art Akido principle of Shu, Ha, Ri.  The team also talks about applying agile practices across multiple disciplines outside of the traditional software development realm.

Alan is a certified PMP, an ITIL Foundation certificate holder, a Scrum Master, a scale Agilist, and an Agile-certified practitioner. Alan has more than 25 years of experience as a leader in Fortune 100 companies. In 2016 he founded Project Management Essentials, and he also recently completed a new course for Velociteach: Fundamentals of Agile.

Bill and Alan also give their feedback on a recent Disciplined Agile Train-the-Trainer session hosted by PMI. Hear about the unique approach Scott Ambler & Mark Lines bring to agile and how DA compares with other agile frameworks.
